VMV Hypoallergenics BB Cream

There are multiple ways of using this beautifully tinted BB cream – apply it solely as a non-makeup that leaves the complexion incredibly flawless yet natural-looking, or use it under make-up as an enhancing primer that forestalls excessive oil and keeps your skin looking fresh even on the longest of days!

Review – Biotherm White D-Tox BB Cream SPF25 PA+++

with 9 comments

I’m sure some of you might remember this sample from my post on the June Bellabox here. I’ve been using this for the past week, and my 5ml sample has officially run out. A week is definitely good enough for me to decide if it is something i would purchase , so read on to find out what my experience with this bb cream has been like.

Just a recap on what this product is all about - This BB cream gives you 24-hour coverage, unified skin tone, maintains hydration all day long and lets the natural pink undertones of the skin shine. With repeated use, dark spots fade and skin simply radiates. Suitable for all skin tones. A 30ml tube retails for $70 available from Biotherm counters.

Firstly, here’re some pics of the sample and a swatch.

This is one of the lighter BB creams that i’ve come across so far, which still manages to retain its creamy texture. I’ve noticed how some base products that are light tend to lean towards runny. The consistency is somewhat similar to the Laneige Snow BB Cream, but i prefer how this applies on the skin. The coverage is sheer towards medium, and it dries off with a nice satin finish. The product was able to conceal all the redness on my face, giving it an even tone all throughout. Dark spots were also well concealed, except for the 1 or 2 more stubborn ones that require concealer. Overall, my skin felt nice and moisturized upon application. I didn’t experience any breakouts either on my sensitive skin.

In terms of color, it resembles the shades that you would usually see in liquid foundation. I like that it doesn’t leave any white or grey cast on the skin for me. It also seems to oxidize with time to match my skin tone. I’ve been using this bb cream with my Chanel Mat Lumiere Powder Foundation, and the sebum control has been impressive. Of course, with skin like mine there is no product where blotting becomes a thing of the past. With the use of this winning combination, i’ve noticed a big difference where my t-zone is much less oily and i also realize i don’t blot as much. So far, the only downside to this product is its price. But at $70 for 30ml, you’re getting great quality and for those of you who don’t bat an eyelid at paying more for quality brand name cosmetics/skincare, i’m sure you will enjoy this product. I can foresee myself forking out the extra cash to buy this in the near future, because of its great sebum control properties.

Review – ZA 12-in-1 Total Hydration BB Cream UV

with one comment

I managed to snag this at Watsons‘ GSS Sale at 20% off (U.P $15.90). So today i’ll be reviewing yet another BB cream for you. The ZA 12-in-1 Total Hydration BB Cream claims to be a special skincare formula that moisturizes the skin and works as a foundation to conceal skin problems, achieving a healthy skin tone.

What really drew me to this was the claim of 12-in-1 benefits. As you know, most other BB creams are usually 3-in-1 which usually include hydration, sun protection and prevention of wrinkles. So let’s see, what are the 12 wonderful things this product claims it can do?

  • SPF30 PA+++
It has 2 kinds of UV protection – SPF30 and PA+++
  • Foundation Effects
It has 6 foundation elements which include working as a base make-up, concealing pores and dark spots, correcting uneven color, lightening skin color and creating healthy skin tone
  • 4 Skincare Formulas
    - Sebum Holding Powder: Relieves stickiness
    - Vitamin B Derivative: Keeps skin fresh
    - Amino Mineral Complex: Moisturizes to minimise pores
    - Prism Enhancer: Gives skin luminous clarity

Here are some pictures of what it looks like :)

It is housed in a simple, fuss-free pink tube as you can see from the above pictures. Totally cute – it’s pink and very girly. Its size is very handy for packing into your make-up pouch for touch-ups during the day. With a simple twist cap and a light squeeze, it’s very easy to dispense just the right amount of product you need for your face. No messy dispensation that leads to wastage. You get 20g of product that is made in Taiwan.

I found the texture to be very creamy and the consistency leaning towards thick. The shade is ‘Natural’ but the color seems to be a tad dark when swatched on the my hand. BB creams tend to leave a white or grey cast for some people, this seemed a bit ‘orange-y’ to me. Anyway, i proceeded to blend it out into the skin. Though creamy, application was simple and straightforward. No problems using my fingers to apply the product on my face. The coverage was light to medium, and it managed to cover the redness and totally conceal my dark spots. I had a stubborn spot which is a tad darker than the rest which needed some concealer if i absolutely had to cover it. It also helped to give an even skin tone overall and it did indeed leave a moisturized feel on the skin sans the stickiness. With a somewhat matt effect on the skin, it doesn’t leave you with that luminous, dewy look that other less creamy bb creams provide though.

In terms of coverage, this product provides a heavier coverage as compared to the Laneige Snow BB Cream that i normally use. And in terms of color, it looked a bit dark on me at first, but it oxidizes after a while to match my skin tone so that’s fine. As for sebum control, i think it did fairly well. There was a bit of sheen on my T-zone after 2-3 hours, but my face did not look like an oily war-zone. I didn’t need a lot of product to cover my face, so i believe with daily usage this tube will probably last you between 2-3 months or so? I had this product on for about 6 hours (i used finishing powder to set it) and it managed to stay put, without any ‘gliding’. Overall, it is a pocket-friendly product that performs pretty well, and i think many of you might like this.

There will be a FOTD in my next blog post using the ZA 12-in-1 Total Hydration BB Cream. Stay tuned!

Review – Laneige Snow BB Cream SPF41 PA++ (No. 2)

with 3 comments

Today i’ll be reviewing the Laneige Snow BB Cream SPF41 PA++, which i just got my hands on (amongst some other Korean goodies!) courtesy of a friend who recently travelled to Seoul, Korea. It’s not a product that’s new on the market, and i’m sure some of you may have tried it before. Here are some of my thoughts on it. Hope it’ll be useful to those who are interested in finding out more about this product. A FOTD will follow at the end of this review. Enjoy!

Extracted from Laneige

Even and clarified skin is desired by all women. The best color and texture fitted to one’s own skin makes your skin look more vital and rejuvenated. Laneige Base Makeup, with clear moisturizing effect, gives various colors and textures, allowing you to experience snow-like clear and transparent glowing skin.

Product Benefits:
# Moisture protective seal, Liquid Crystal Essence
An essence type BB cream that fully delivers fresh moist and nourishing sensation to the skin right after application.
Liquid Crystal Essence ingredient that has the similar struc-ture to the skin surface lipid which works as a natural skin barrier creates a skin moisturizing seal on the skin, keeping moisture locked in and staying long on the skin.
# Smart and Advanced BB Cream
Triple function of whitening, anti-wrinkle, and UV protection (SPF41, PA++), protecting skin from harmful environment

- The Snow BB Cream comes in a pearl-white glossy plastic tube with a twist screw cap, and contains 50ml of product that is made in Korea.
- The tube-form allows for easy dispensation of the product. Go easy, a slight squeeze dispenses sufficient product.
- As you can see from the image above, the texture is creamy. However, the consistency is neither thick nor watery. Still, it was really easy to blend into the skin.
- Coverage of this product is definitely light to medium. You will need additional concealer to cover the more stubborn spots. Otherwise, it can pretty much conceal everything else.
- The Snow BB Cream comes in 2 shades. No. 1 is a Shimmer Brightening BB providing a brightening effect on the skin and No. 2 is Natural BB, providing a natural no-makeup look. Mine is No. 2.
- It has a very fresh, pleasant scent.
- It was recommended that you apply this product after your basic skincare regime. However, i just slapped it right on a bare face with no moisturizer (only eye cream) and did not feel that it was drying at all.
- In terms of sebum control, performance was alright. Not as great as the ZA True White Liquid foundation that i reviewed here though.
- Overall, i’m quite satisfied with this product and will continue to use it. It provides that nice sheer coverage that i like.

Review – Skin79 Hot Pink Triple Functions BB Cream SPF25 PA++

with 12 comments

After reading several rave reviews about Skin79 and its range of BB creams, i was very curious about the brand and exactly how effective it would be. I’ve only tried 2 other BB cream products before, and they are the Maybelline Pure BB Mineral 8-in-1 BB mousse and Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals BB Cream. Both did not work well for me. I’ve reviewed them here, if you are interested.

From the reviews, it seemed that the hot pink one was more suited to oily combination skin types. I bought it off Gmarket Singapore for about $15 with a promotional coupon (40ml), and received it in a week.

This product gives light to medium coverage and claims to have the following properties:
- Whitening
- UV Protection SPF25 PA++
- Wrinkle Improvement

The ‘triple function’ is what really attracted me, and i have high hopes for this product. With long-term use, i hope that it will at least prevent more spots and lines on my skin. I don’t quite expect it to have perform any miracles on my current skin condition.

The BB cream is contained in an attractive hot pink bottle with a pump that facilitates sanitary dispensation of the product. It is also easy to control the amount of product dispensed to avoid wastage.

When i first swatched the product, it looked rather dark and i was worried if it leave a strange color on my face after application. However, after blending it into the skin it looked fine and it leaves a very soft moisturized feeling on the skin. The fact that it has a very light pleasant scent is a bonus. And since it has SPF25, i skipped my usual moisturizer when i used this. My face did not feel dry or tight despite that. Great time-saver especially when you are in a rush! :)

As usual, I set it with my Bobbi Brown finishing powder to complete my make-up. After 3 hours, i used a blotter only once to remove a little shine on the T-zone. I found this product to have pretty good sebum control. I would usually experience more shine than this after 2 hours when i apply a normal foundation, which is pretty normal for me since my skin leans towards oily.

Overall, i found this product to be more than satisfactory. As for the ‘Whitening’ and ‘Wrinkle Improvement’ bit, i do hope that i will  see results over time. In terms of coverage, it is not too heavy for me as i usually shy away from anything too heavy. It doesn’t totally cover dark spots, so if that is a major concern for you, then a concealer would be necessary. It does however, help to conceal redness and light veins. That is good enough for me, and i will continue to use this product.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Here’s a FOTD where i used the Skin79 Hot Pink Triple Functions BB Cream. Thanks for looking! I hope the review was useful to you.
