Review – Burberry Sheer Foundation Trench No.04

with 10 comments

Hi everyone, today’s review is a foundation from Burberry – the Sheer Foundation Trench No.04. I purchased this from Tangs recently, it retails for S$75 (30ml) if i remember correctly. This is one product i’ve been thinking about for some time now, but i just couldn’t find an excuse to get yet another foundation. ;p

The packaging looks and feels very luxurious. The metal cap is embossed with the signature Burberry trench, and it feels heavy. The range of cosmetic products from Burberry all bear this signature design in some form or another. The overall style is very chic and understated – definitely looks beautiful on any dressing table. If you are someone who appreciates beautifully designed products, you will love their cosmetics range. :)

Beneath that beautiful metal cap, you will find a pump dispenser. Great for controlling the amount of product you need. Burberry has also thoughtfully gone one step further with a twist lock on the pump.

As can you see from the swatch above, this foundation has a very creamy texture, it’s not exactly thick though. When you think sheer, one might expect a watery consistency for such a foundation. A little goes a long way, but it is indeed sheer. It’s extremely easy to apply and blend, and you will find that it helps to give your face an even uniform color – erases blotchiness and redness on the skin. The coverage is buildable, if you need some extra coverage on areas of your face that are dull due to pigmentation etc. However, if you have acne scars or other stubborn blemishes, you will probably need a tiny bit of concealer on top of the foundation.

I like the feel and finish of this foundation. It is so light and comfortable as well as hydrating, you feel like you’re hardly wearing any foundation. You get a nice healthy glow, with a somewhat smooth, dewy finish. I set my foundation with some Burberry Sheer Powder (not photographed here, but believe me the packaging is equally beautiful if not more), and my base is all set to go. My foundation lasts for a good 8 hours and i don’t turn into an oil tank. ( i blot with a tissue twice maybe through the 8-9 hours).

Here i have a FOTD where i’ve used the Burberry Sheer Foundation and Powder. It is a simple look that i did for a lunch appointment over the weekend. Very natural day look, perfect for work days too. For the eyes, i used ‘Sidecar’ from the Urban Decay Naked Palette all over the lid and did a simple smokey eye. And I followed that with ‘Virgin’ from the same palette on the the browbone and finished with some black eyeliner (applied very thinly) for some subtle definition.

In this FOTD, i’ve also used a new lipstick which i got during a recent Shiseido haul from the Maquillage range. I love love love the color and texture. In the bullet, it’s a very natural rosy pink with some shimmer in it. It compliments many natural makeup looks, and helps to keep my lips moisturized and looking good.

Here’s a swatch of the lip color on the back of my hand.

And here’s a close-up look at my lips. It looks kinda different on my lips because my lips are pigmented. I like that it is ‘my lips but better’!

Review – Sleek Bad Girl i-Divine Eye Shadow Palette + ZA True White Liquid Foundation

with 18 comments

Today, i’ll be reviewing the Sleek Makeup Bad Girl i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette and the ZA True White Liquid Foundation in OC00. I bought the eyeshadow palette from Luxola during their recent 35% off sale. There are a total of 12 colors in the palette, and it retails for S$20 on the Luxola website. I have the Original i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette as well (You can refer to the review here), and so far i’m enjoying both. As for the foundation, I purchased it from the Tokyu department store during my recent trip to Bangkok. It retails for 479 Baht (~S$19.50) there, whereas the retail price in Singapore is S$23.50.

Sleek Makeup Bad Girl i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette

(L-R) Innocence, Gullible, Blade, Gun Metal, Underground, Noir

(L-R) Intoxicated, Envy, Obnoxious, Abyss, Twilight, Rebel

The product is housed within a slim black casing that comes with a mirror, and a 2-sided foam applicator. As with my original i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette, the colors are vibrant and pigmented, and are pretty long-lasting without much creasing at the end of the day. Very little fall out if any, for some of the colors in this palette too. If you have oily lids like i do, please apply an eyelid primer first. There’s also a variety of looks that you can create with this palette, which is extremely value-for-money in my opinion. My favorite colors are Gullible, Gun Metal, Intoxicated and Twilight.

There’s 1.1g of product for each of the 12 colors in this palette of mineral-based eyeshadow colors, and it is made in China.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

ZA True White Liquid Foundation in OC00 (SPF 25 PA++)

The foundation comes in a squarish glass bottle with a pump that makes for easy and sanitary dispensation of the product. I like most products that come with pumps as it makes it easier to control the amount of product that you need and avoid wastage. The consistency is smooth and light and leans towards runny, making it a breeze to blend whether with fingers or a brush (depending on your preference). It provides light to medium coverage, and was able to conceal the redness on my cheeks, around the nose and mouth. It was also able to cover lighter spots on my face, but you’ll probably need a concealer if you want to conceal darker spots.

There are a total of 6 shades available from this range. They are OCOW, OC00, OC10, OC20, OC30 and PO10. The former 4 are yellow-based, and the last one pink-based. OC00 was a great match for my skin color, and it gives a nice, natural radiant finish to the skin. I have oily combination skin, and the True White Liquid Foundation offers fairly good sebum control, and performs better than my Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation (SPF 18) in this aspect. However, in comparison, the Maybelline foundation provides a slightly more ‘matt’ finish as well which i prefer in general.

This foundation claims to ‘achieve a white, pearly, radiant finish’. It also claims to contain ‘Bright White Complex, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. This bottle contains 30ml of product, and is made in Taiwan.

And finally, here’s a ‘Face of The Day’ where i’ve used both products reviewed above. Thanks for looking, and i hope the review was useful for you. :)
