Review – Chanel Rouge Coco in 40 Charme & Le Vernis in 607 Delight

with 10 comments

Thanks to Meryl and her news about the Metro sale, I picked these up just over the weekend. I will be showcasing my haul in parts over the coming days, so do stay tuned to find out what i simply couldn’t walk away without.

The Chanel Le Vernis in 607 Delight was part of their Summer collection which launched earlier in May this year. It was love at first sight.  This is a shade that is pretty universal, so I’m quite sure it will suit most skin tones – which means it is a “safe” investment. I know there are some nail colors that can make you look too yellow or even sallow. This is not one of them. The formula was quite smooth, unlike some other glittery nail lacquers i’ve tried before which tend to be a little gritty (for the lack of a better word). This bronze gold is very chic and easy to match. From what i can see, looks like they’ve thrown in some micro glitter in silver into the mix, which gives it dimension.

And next, we have the Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Color in 40 Charme. My first Chanel lipstick! I picked a soft natural pink that i can easily match with classic everyday looks to get the most out of this investment. The formula is amazing – soft and moisturizing (Not sticky!). Absolutely no regrets on this purchase! I can foresee myself visiting Chanel counters looking for more shades soon!

Thanks for looking! I will do a FOTD soon with products from my recent haul :)

Summer on my nails :) All of a sudden, i fell in love with fuchsia all over again.
Hope everyone else is holding up well in this terribly warm weather!!

I used PK105 from The Face Shop and Lara’s Theme from Deborah Lippmann.
How do you like this combination? What nail colors have you been sporting this season?

Just wanted to do something different for a change. Does it make you feel hungry? Or does it just look plain weird?

Reminds me of mustard and chilli on a hotdog :)

I used OR201 from The Face Shop and Lara’s Theme from Deborah Lippmann.

Today’s Nails – On Cloud 9

with 7 comments

I’ve seen many photos on Flickr, Instagram and Google of people sporting these cloud design manicures. Been wanting to try it out, and finally today i searched for how-to tutorials. Ta-dahh! Here’re some first attempt pictures to share.

Decided on a girly pinky theme for my cloud nails to celebrate the weekend! Need to relax, calm my mind and senses… if only all nail polish smell of aromatherapy oils ;P

Here’s what i used for this manicure.

(L-R) OPI Hearts & Tarts (base color), Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, OPI Tutti Fruitti Tonga (2nd layer), TFS PK105 (3rd layer)
Sally Hansen nail art pen Silver (to trace the outline of the cloud)

Thanks for looking! :)

Today’s Nails – Like a Mermaid

with 8 comments

A friend of mine said these nails somehow remind her of a mermaid. Full of shine and glitter with a touch of the ocean :)

Here, i used a recently acquired color from Essie (Steel-ing the Scene) and OPI (Gone Gonzo!) which is a gift from my dear friend and fellow blogger, Jade Isabelle Liang.

Thanks for looking! Happy Monday everyone!

Today’s Nails – Glamourous Neutrals

with 2 comments

Today, I used a touch of gold to glamourise one of my favorite grey-based neutrals. Here’s what it looks like. What do you think? :D

# OPI Did You Ear About Van Gogh?
As with most neutrals, this was a little on the runny side resulting in a streaky application. I had to take extra care with this base, and with 3 coats i managed to achieve a smooth opaque application.

# Face It BR801 from The Face Shop
It was super easy to apply, and you get that smooth, shiny color with just 2 coats.

The Face Shop Nail Polish Haul

leave a comment »

I really wasn’t planning on it, but i came home with a few new nail colors from The Face Shop. They have a range of pretty colors, and coupled with a reasonable price point, who can resist? ;p Definitely not me!

I bought a total of 5 colors, and they are (1) GR502, (2)PP405, (3) BR801 (4) BL602 and (5) BK901. Below is a glimpse of what they look like. :D (Please note these color codes i’ve quoted here may be different from what you have seen in other blogs. I’m not too sure if they got the sticker wrong, but these are what i see on the ones I’ve purchased here in SG)

As for the texture and consistency, these colors are all on the creamy side and extremely easy to apply. The color payoff is really good in my opinion, and i didn’t experience any streaking either. Even better than some colors from more expensive brands. These colors cost S$7.90 each, except for BR801 which cost S$10.90.

GR502 is my favorite color so far, it’s very easy easy to carry off and i imagine i would get the most mileage out of it as it is an everyday go-to color for any occasion.

My rating for GR502 is 5 out of 5 stars.

Here are swatches of the other colors from my haul :)

(L) BR801, (R) PP405

The glittery bits on PP405 doesn't photograph well, so it looks like a flat dark plum color. It's got more dimension in real life. As for the warm glittery gold, i'm really beginning to warm up to it.

(L) BL602, (R) BK901

You can vaguely see the lighter blue specks in BK901 on my index finger. And i love how the color in BL602 shifts slightly in the light.

Thanks for looking! :) Do you have any favorite nail polish colors from The Face Shop?

Vanity in A Bottle

with 4 comments

My modest collection, after the recent spring clean. On my wish list are Deborah Lippmann, Inglot & Butter London polishes.
You’ll see that most of the colors i own are warm, earthy tones. I’m usually more inclined towards subtle where my nails are concerned.
Except for the spatter of neon colors i bought last year just to play with for color-blocking.

Here’s a self-portrait i took yesterday, and the 2 new colors (Tutti Frutti Tonga & Cosmo Not Tonight Honey) i bought for my latest DIY manicure.
The tips aren’t 100% even, but i tried my best and i’m working on it!
Thanks for looking! :)
