Review – Koryo (Korean) Restaurant

I had a major craving for some Korean food yesterday. So i whipped out my iPhone and opened my HungryGoWhere app and searched for a Korean eating place which was near Holland Village area. There were a few that came up, but we decided to give Koryo (Korean) Restaurant a go. Reason mainly being there was a decent review given by the LadyIronChef. It is located at Fusionopolis, which is located near BuonaVista MRT Station.

So off we went. Like all the reviews mentioned, it was indeed quiet. However, i do believe it is mainly due to the location. It is part of an office building, so you wouldn’t expect much of a crowd there on a Saturday evening.

After a quick look at the menu, we decided to order the Chicken & Potato Hotpot. It comes with rice and 4 appetizer dishes that are usually served in most Korean eateries.

Let’s just say this isn’t the typical soup you would expect of a hotpot dish. Not that it wasn’t nice, the texture was thick – almost like a curry. You know how curry feels a bit thick because some of the potato has disintegrated into the soup base? Something like that. But it tasted good! Something different. This hotpot serving is meant for 2. However, if you have 3 small eaters it is enough, especially with a bowl of rice.

4 Korean appetizers were served complimentary, and they all tasted quite good. Only the Kimchi could have been better. Even then, i had 2 servings of it, just because i love Kimchi. You can request for top up of any of these appetizers if you want 🙂

Here’s a closer look at them.

Mushrooms (Very tasty!)

I would definitely visit Koryo again. Next time, i intend to try the beef hotpot, seafood hotpot and the Bibimbap. The prices are quite decent too. The final bill came up to $27 for the hotpot and 2 Cokes (incl. service charge and GST). There’s also a Starbucks in the same building, a nice quiet place to chill over the weekend. And you don’t have to fight for seats.
