Review – Essence Nail Polish

I first read about Essence nail polish randomly on a beauty blog, and was quite interested to check out the range. I never got round to doing it though. So when i was in the US earlier this year, i spotted them at Ulta and picked up 3 colors, just to try them out.

The range of colors they have available is huge! Many of them are similar to what you can find at OPI, Essie, Deborah Lippmann etc. These were the 3 colors i picked out from the store, where they were going for US$0.90 each.

From L – R: Irreplaceable, Date with the Night, Walk of Fame.

So far, i’ve only tried Date with the Night. The formula is fairly smooth, i did not experience any difficulty with application or major streaking. That said, it is nowhere near the quality of high-end brands. I’ve had this color on for 3 days now, and there is some minor tip wear, but no major chipping though, and that is with typing on the keyboard, washing of dishes etc.

Here’s what Date with the Night looks like. I applied a base coat, 2 coats of polish and finished it off with one coat of Seche Vite quick dry top coat.
It is very much like a pewter / gunmetal shade.

Overall, i’m liking it. It is very affordable with a wide range of colors available and minimal wear during the 3 days since i applied it. I’m very eager to pick up more colors to add to my growing collection. Have you tried any of the other colors before that you would recommend? 🙂
