Unboxing the Bellabox – Aug 2012

This month’s Bellabox is all about the little island of Singapore, and loving it. 9th of August is the day we celebrate Singapore’s 47th independence day! I’m not as patriotic as others – i don’t put up the Singapore flag on this day, and neither do i participate in the National Day celebration with thousands of other Singaporeans. But i really, truly, am proud of Singapore and what we have achieved as a Nation. We are a tiny weeny dot on the World map, and there are still people who think Singapore is in some part of China – BUT Singapore has lots to be proud of. And i am proud to be part of it.

While we’re on this topic, i’d just like to say that i also appreciate the diversity of this country. We are a multi-racial country and live amongst others who possess different values and cultures. Though i wouldn’t say it is perfect and we live in complete harmony (let’s be honest!), i think we’ve done a pretty good job. I like having friends of different races, and learning more about their lives and their cultural beliefs, it all adds up to the experience of living amongst people who are different from us.

Ok, before i digress further, let’s see what Bellabox has put together for us this month!
