Review – Burberry Sheer Foundation Trench No.04
Hi everyone, today’s review is a foundation from Burberry – the Sheer Foundation Trench No.04. I purchased this from Tangs recently, it retails for S$75 (30ml) if i remember correctly. This is one product i’ve been thinking about for some time now, but i just couldn’t find an excuse to get yet another foundation. ;p
The packaging looks and feels very luxurious. The metal cap is embossed with the signature Burberry trench, and it feels heavy. The range of cosmetic products from Burberry all bear this signature design in some form or another. The overall style is very chic and understated – definitely looks beautiful on any dressing table. If you are someone who appreciates beautifully designed products, you will love their cosmetics range. π
Beneath that beautiful metal cap, you will find a pump dispenser. Great for controlling the amount of product you need. Burberry has also thoughtfully gone one step further with a twist lock on the pump.
As can you see from the swatch above, this foundation has a very creamy texture, it’s not exactly thick though. When you think sheer, one might expect a watery consistency for such a foundation. A little goes a long way, but it is indeed sheer. It’s extremely easy to apply and blend, and you will find that it helps to give your face an even uniform color – erases blotchiness and redness on the skin. The coverage is buildable, if you need some extra coverage on areas of your face that are dull due to pigmentation etc. However, if you have acne scars or other stubborn blemishes, you will probably need a tiny bit of concealer on top of the foundation.
I like the feel and finish of this foundation. It is so light and comfortable as well as hydrating, you feel like you’re hardly wearing any foundation. You get a nice healthy glow, with a somewhat smooth, dewy finish. I set my foundation with some Burberry Sheer Powder (not photographed here, but believe me the packaging is equally beautiful if not more), and my base is all set to go. My foundation lasts for a good 8 hours and i don’t turn into an oil tank. ( i blot with a tissue twice maybe through the 8-9 hours).
Here i have a FOTD where i’ve used the Burberry Sheer Foundation and Powder. It is a simple look that i did for a lunch appointment over the weekend. Very natural day look, perfect for work days too. For the eyes, i used ‘Sidecar’ from the Urban Decay Naked Palette all over the lid and did a simple smokey eye. And I followed that with ‘Virgin’ from the same palette on the the browbone and finished with some black eyeliner (applied very thinly) for some subtle definition.
In this FOTD, i’ve also used a new lipstick which i got during a recent Shiseido haul from the Maquillage range. I love love love the color and texture. In the bullet, it’s a very natural rosy pink with some shimmer in it. It compliments many natural makeup looks, and helps to keep my lips moisturized and looking good.
Here’s a swatch of the lip color on the back of my hand.
And here’s a close-up look at my lips. It looks kinda different on my lips because my lips are pigmented. I like that it is ‘my lips but better’!
Thanks for looking!

Joy, the foundation looks flawless on you. Do I see the beginnings of a Burberry addict? lol. That is also a very pretty lipstick. I love the look you did, it looks natural yet polished.
oh my god Jac, u have no idea. I have so many to-buy items on my list it’s not funny. But i must try at least one eyeshadow from Burberry after all the rave reviews i’ve read especially from you, Ruby and Meryl π
Joy, get the eye shadow palettes then. Since you like neutrals, Mocha is perfect for you. Go swatch it!
Thanks Jac for the recommendation! will most definitely go check it out soon π
Looking good babe π The shade matched you to a T and gave such beautiful polished look. I like the packaging too. I am a jiffy person, so foundation is a little tricky for me to apply quickly in the morning plus I have oily skin. I bought a bottle of L’oreal True Match, picked a cool undertone, got the slight rosy look. While I think it looked nice, but when compared with my neck, I have rosy face and yellowish neck. Sigh. But hey, this Burberry one is an all round winner in terms of shade and packaging π
Hey Jen! Thank you π I used to think foundation was a lot of work…but i’ve realised it doesn’t necessarily have to be so. I’m slow if i use fingers to apply, but with a foundation brush, my base is done in a jiffy and i get a uniform color on my face. Maybe if u worked a thinner layer of the L’oreal foundation you bought into your skin and buffed it out real nice, it would look more natural π
I agree that this look is very work appropriate π
I just bought Burberry foundation too but it’s the velvet finished.. I love it a lot too! Btw I think your skin looks flawless in this look. I like!
Thanks babe! Next up, Burberry eyeshadows ;p
I so love your look. the foundation that you have used is amazing as well with the lippie. I usually prefer this kind of look for it looks light and natural.
Both of those colors are awesome, and look great! Very natural and pretty π
