Review – Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control SPF 50 PA+++
Frankly speaking, i haven’t been consistently using any form of foundation makeup for quite some time now. Probably about 10 months or so. I’ve used it on certain occasions, but my daily ‘go-to-work-face’ routine consists of only a color correcting primer base, followed by brows, eyeliner, blush and lip balm or color. In fact, i’ve put up some liquid foundation listings on Carousell.
However, with almost the entire blogosphere raving about BB cushions in some form or other, i simply couldn’t resist. I needed to try one out!!😉 As most of you would know, there are several brands out there – Sulwhasoo, Amore Pacific, IOPE, Hera, Laneige, Etude House just to name a few. I went digging around reading lots of reviews, and i decided to go with Laneige’s latest BB Cushion Pore Control.
Apparently, Laneige has released a few versions (in chronological order):
1) Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion (Discontinued)
2) Laneige BB Cushion Whitening
3) Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control
I have not tried any of the earlier versions, but from some of the reviews i’ve read it seems that the latest Pore Control version has more of a matte finish, better coverage for concealing large pores, and lasts longer as compared to its predecessors. Before i tell you more about my experience with the Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control in No.13 True Beige, let me share some pictures first
The packaging is pretty thick and chunky, not exactly very travel-friendly but it isn’t very heavy so that helps. I love the big mirror within the compact, great for touch-ups if you need to. There is also an additional plastic flap inside the compact to prevent the cushion from drying out.
The blue puff applicator is not the typical powder puff that you get with powder foundations. It is an air-cell textured puff that doesn’t quite absorb the product, so all the product you pick up is not wasted. All of it goes on your face. I’ve heard though that it is a nightmare trying to wash this, so you’re better off just buying a new one instead.
The texture of this foundation is somewhat creamy, and it applies easily on the skin. The recommended method of application is to glide the puff along your skin, then lightly pat it in for a nice, natural finish. BTW, i love the scent. It isn’t very strong and it fades away shortly anyway. But that first whiff is quite delightful, the scent is similar to the Laneige Snow BB cream which i have used before. The finish is semi-matte, and i don’t really see a need to use any powder over this layer of foundation. It sets quite nicely on its own. The coverage is medium. However, i wouldn’t suggest going crazy with too many layers. It’ll start to settle into lines and appear cakey. If you need something with high coverage, then this product might not be for you. Oh! One plus point is that the SPF is quite high – SPF 50 PA+++!
My T-zone starts getting shiny about 3 -4 hours later, but the the rest of my face still looks alright. The color doesn’t seem to oxidize either. Let’s face it – it’s not exactly a high performer but for the price that you pay as compared to other premium liquid foundations, it’s not that bad. I will continue to use it on occasion.
Here’s my FOTD using the Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control. What do you think? Have you tried any other BB Cushion products?
Thanks for reading!
